Nursing
Experienced qualified nurses are in attendance 24 hours a day and supported by care assistants to provide full nursing care in our day care centres. All our qualified nurses and care assistants are trained to cater for residents of mixed nursing dependency including post operative, long term, respite, dementia and palliative care. Personal care is provided for residents who require personal assistance, but not necessarily fully qualified nursing attention round the clock.
Whatever the type of care required our staff will take the time to discuss individual care plans with residents, family or friends on arrival. This covers practical details such as mobility, medication and personal issues including general preferences and any worries or concerns about the future. Our care plans are continuously assessed and reviewed to ensure that all criteria have been met and that we are offering the very best care and support that we can. We equally acknowledge that it is important to feel respected and have privacy maintained.
Medication
People in day care can choose to manage their own medication unless there is specific legal provision that may prevent this. If medication is managed personally there will be provision to store this in a lockable drawer. If needed, there will also have special storage somewhere else e.g. in a fridge that is secure and accessible. If medication must be managed on behalf of residents, you can be confident that the home has comprehensive systems in place for ordering medication and for its safe storage and administration, and for the safe disposal of unused medicines.
